End of Year Thoughts

This has been a strange year.  I have had a number of physical changes....only letting me know I am getting o...l....d...   I also  had a few surprises that explained things to me, and I think I have grown...not only weight wise, but in understanding some things that never made sense to me before.

The biggest surprise I had was in a letter my sister wrote to me.  At the end she said she loved me, but sometimes she didn't like me.  I  thought      that was odd.  I sometimes don't like the things shes says  or doesn't say, but I still like her.  However, this has cleared up why she ignores me and my ideas.  If someone doesn't like you, they probably wouldn't like anything you do or say.  Water under the bridge.  Hope writing the letter made her feel better.

A lot of bad storms have occurred over the year,...a lot  of people lost their homes and some lost their lives..Pray for them everyday.

A lot of murders , but none as horrible as the shooting of a classroom full of first graders and 6 adults.  The shooter began by killing his mother before he went to the school.  What a sick, sick mind....Only God can understand this and I am sure He is not very happy about it.

I have also had some great days during 2012 In touch with many of my former students.  Learned what their lives are and what they have been doing.  Some have become friends who have brought love into my life.  Also, friends from church that I didn't really get to know until I met them on face book.

We had one of the best summers I can remember and I have lived here since 1964
It was sunny, not too hot, no rain, and everything in bloom....God's beautiful world.

I have become more understanding of peoples problems, hence I am able to forgive some of the things they do and say.  I am accepting more people and try not to judge them.  People with very narrow views have always bothered me, but now I realize they are just doing the best that they know how and as they learn more they will do better.

I am thankful for all my blessings.....for my son who helps me all he can, to the fact that even though I physically can'
t do the things I used to do, I still have a mind that is sharp.....what a big blessing that is.

I think in many ways this post may sound negative, but really life has opened up to me since I am able to understand people better.

I am going to start a new Post on New Years Day called  NEW BEGINNINGS.  After all, each day brings a new beginning, a time to try to do the best we can in this old world.  Until then,

IS IT THE END?

I was very  surprised that no one commented on yesterday's blog.  No one posted it on their face book.  Why?  Did you just think it was to wrong to bother with?  I give up.

The author of 50 shades was interviewed on the Katie Coric show today.  The audience of mostly young women were all beaming and happy that someone wrote such a great book.  Even Katie seemed to be amused by the whole thing. The author's British accent was too thick for me and I had a difficult time understanding most of what she said, but it was obvious that she felt very amused about all her little sexy episodes in the book. All the women , including Katie said "who wouldn't want a guy like Christian Gray?"

My question is, who would want a man who degraded women, was one sick puppy and needed help to overcome all his wierd , brutal habits.

There have been over 100 products on the market dealing with 50 shades.  There is a movie being considered (they surely aren't just going to have 50 shades of sex are they?)  Also a musical is being considered.

Is there something wrong with me.  I can see no good qualities at all in this garbage, trash, pure junk.

Because I received no responses and because only two or three people even read my blog, I am thinking of quitting it and just writing in my Journal.  Sorry, but this just seems like a waste of time.  It is like talking to everyone and no one answers me  It gets as boring as 50 Shades.

Bye for now,

FIFTY SHADES OF GRAY

                         ABOUT  THE AUTHOR

E.L.James  is a British television executive.  Her Shades of Gray was self- published  at first, but was soon picked up by Vintage Books and the sales on e-books alone are over 250,000. 750,000 came out in April.

WHAT IS THE BOOK ABOUT ?

Sex!  Christian Gray is a handsome billionaire who seduces a naive young college graduate with bondage and whips.  The setting for all this erotica takes place between Seattle, Washington and Portland, Oregon.

WHAT DO I THINK OF THE BOOK?

I don't believe in banning books or burning books, but I would band or burn this trash in the blink of an eye.  I had no idea what kind of book it was when I spent my good money for it.  I just knew I was on the New York Times best seller list and everyone was talking about it.

You might say, "why did you read the whole book?"
My answer is, I tried to find some saving grace in all of this, but unfortunately I couldn't find any.

In the first place. who wants to read intimate details about every movement of intercourse?  If the sex scenes were taken out of the book, there may be one or even two chapters to the entire book. Any adult and most young people know all the details, why do they have to read this boring refrain?    With few changes, the entire book has the same sex scenes in various locations.  It is so boring.  And, each time the author keeps us informed that Christan takes out a condom, we hear the sound of the paper as he removes it.  Come on, who needs all these boring details?  I think if your sex life is so pitiful that you need to read this garbage, then you need to see a Doctor ...join a group discussion and find out why you need to read this junk.

We all know why the author wrote it>  Sex sells and sales mean MONEY!

It concerns me that children might get their hands on this trash,.  What an awful way to read about something that God initiated?  Sex was to be a wonderful thing between two people who loved each other.  This book would certainly give kids a different point of view.

As far as characters go, poor Christan might have the looks and the money, but he certainly has a limited vocabulary.  The F word seems to be almost the only word he knows. Poor guy, sorry  he's so illiterate.

And Ana, well, she is the typical stereotype of the dumb blond.  How could she let him abuse her and think maybe she could like it ....it may make him love her.  Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeezzzz.

What do I think of the author's style of writing?    For a woman who must be very intelligent, I can't believe she would even pretend to have written a book.  She wrote what she knew about sex,,,,then she was stumped.  Where was the story?  Well, she just kept repeating with slight variations the same thing over and over until she reached the end.  And believe it or not, this is only the first book of a trilogy.  Would you waste your time reading this and spend your good money to buy it?

What a shame.  With all the millions of great books there are to read, why does anyone waste their time reading this trash?

I have a lot more to tell you about the  result of third book, but I think this is enough for one day.  Will finish tomorrow.

If you agree with me about this kind of book please post it on your face book.Thank you so much.

Until next time,
Be Kind to One Another.

EYE UPDATE

Well, I have had my last shot in my right eye for the time being.  This is the eye that is Wet Muscular Degeneration.  The shots are the same ones given for colon cancer.  I don't know how they figured that one out, but it works.  I won't see any better, but it, at least for now, wont get any worse.

Now for my left eye,  The dry MD.  This has been my good eye, but now the retina is thinning and there is no cure for it.  If a cure isn't found I will go blind in that eye.  The Dr. tells me there are three studies, the first one now in progress.  He said when they start a second study he will try to get me ion.  Pray that they can find something to stop people from going blind.

I don't want to be blind.  There are so many wonderful things to see:  your family and friends, the beauties of nature, books to read, painting to do, etc.  I don't think I will be completely blind in my right eye so that is encouraging.

Take care of your eyes, and see all the beauty each day as you open your eyes to the beauty around you. As John O' Donohue says in his poem, "May the light of dawn anoint your eyes, that you may behold what a miracle a day is. "

Until next time,

Something New

OK, I have started yet another blog.  Maybe this will be an easier one to find.

This has been another wild, and not too good day.  The tub installer has finished his work, but the electrician came and was to finish the installation today.  He found my electrical panel in bad condition and I really need a lot of electrical work done.  Some of it will be paid for by the tub people.   However, if I want my whole panel changed .......more money.  I really can't afford it, but he said he was amazed I haven't had a fire.  He told me to go on Internet and read up on the pannel I have.

On my 30th birthday, we were living in temporary housing while our home was being built in California.  We had no insurance, because we were waiting until we got in our house.  Unfortunately, the temp. housing burned down.  So, as you can imagine, the idea of a fire starting sends shivers down my spine.  I haven't looked up all the information the electrician  gave me yet, but guess that's the next step.  Why doesn't one of my millionaire friends come along and take care of the whole bill.  It would make me very happy.  Ha.....what millionaire friends?  ha!

The tub looks fab. and I can't wait to take a bath in it.....so until then., I'll just be a dirty old lady.!!!!

Until next time
